[Personality]

Mai is surely the kind of girl that makes friends easily. She's very talkative and charismatic and she never finds it hard to approach new people, even when they look like they really don't wanna talk. That's why she's one of the most popular girls in the third year. The younger ones are usually looking up to her. She seems mature, responsible, she's incredibly talented with the violin, and she's a good company for all moments. People love her and respect her. Of course she might bump into some that she won't win over no matter her efforts, but she's not the fighting type. Some might hate or envy Mai or even think she's a fake - some rumors about that would be heard sometimes - but she'd never treat them the same way. She'd never fight back. She simply smiles and tries to ignore. The only moment when she's not that patient and careless about that kind of stuff, is when people start being mean to those who are really important to her. You can bad talk Mai, but never do it to her friends or her family. She'll be quite difficult to deal with. That can probably be her biggest flaw, she's way too protective towards those she love and she will simply step in their businesses without being requested to - which some people might find very annoying. Her intentions are good but sometimes she simply overdoes it and may even put herself - or the friend she tried to help - in a bad position. She also has problems with dealing with rejection. In her first year, a close friend simply stopped talking to her and said she didn't want to be her friend anymore and that broke Mai's heart into pieces. For a whole week no one could make her smile, not even the other close friends. She's always very afraid of losing people. But then, the next week, she seemed to be back to normal and was all cheerful and friendly again. The company that they all loved was back. But she's actually still hurt on the inside. Every time someone simply ends a friendship with her or has to leave and they lose contact, it's like a new scar on her heart. And the biggest problem is that she never cried about it, she never takes those feelings out of her chest. She just hides everything with a beautiful smile and that nice figure of someone you can simply rely on.

[History]

Mai's mom, Nakagawa Nanami, was a rising violinist who would most certainly become very famous one day. She came from a rich family and she started to play the violin at a very young age and she was simply amazing to watch and listen. However, she fell in love. Her beloved wasn't as rich and famous as she was and they had to keep their relationship a secret for a long time. The young man's name was Shigure. He was a writer and someone who'd always act like no one could truly comprehend him. He'd even be distant towards Nanami sometimes. But still the woman would be able to bring him back to her and she was very supportive. She'd always compliment his writing. After two years together, still dating in secret, Nanami got pregnant. She decided it was time to tell her family about Shigure and she planned to take him with her to introduce the man to her parents, but Shigure simply disappeared. He said he needed to find himself so he'd travel the world and she shouldn't look for him. Maybe one day he'd be back. He said he couldn't write the way he was, he wanted to be different somehow and only time and new places would be able to help him with that. All alone with a baby on the way, Nanami got desperate for a moment. When she told her parents, they said they were very disappointed and her father even yelled at her for longer than she needed. Nanami locked herself in her room, thinking about her future. In the end she decided she wanted to keep that baby. She gave up on her dream of being a famous violinist and told her parents she'd get a job and rent a place of her own. When they saw how serious she was and that they could do nothing to keep her living there with them, they begged her for at least let them help a little and pay for the baby's education. She agreed. Nanami found a simple but comfortable home for herself and her little daughter who she named Mai. She started working at a cousin's bakery shop. She'd still play the violin and soon enough she noticed that Mai was going to follow her steps. She taught her daughter and Mai simply loved to play the violin for hours and hours. It almost seemed like the instrument was part of her body. Mai would always want to be just like her mother. A person who wouldn't give up no matter the difficulties and that would always smile. But also, Mai wanted to fulfill her mother's dream that she had to give up on because she got pregnant. Mai wants to become even better than her mother and be known as an amazing and breathtaking violinist.
